CVMC Welcomes Dr. Amanda Arrington
February 17, 2025

Canyon Vista Medical Center is thrilled to welcome Amanda Arrington, MD, to its General Surgery team. Dr. Arrington brings a wealth of knowledge in general surgery and general surgical oncology, with a particular focus on improving access to cancer care and preventive cancer screenings in rural areas.
Prior to joining Sierra Vista Medical Group, Dr. Arrington served as an Associate Professor and complex general surgical oncologist at Houston Methodist Hospital, where she was also the Director of the Cytoreductive Surgery/HIPEC Program. Her personal journey into medicine was inspired by her grandmother's diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer and her family's experiences in rural West Virginia. This early exposure to healthcare challenges shaped her passion for addressing disparities in cancer care access.
Dr. Arrington completed her medical degree at West Virginia University, followed by a General Surgery Residency at the University of Minnesota, where she also pursued extensive research in surgical oncology and clinical outcomes during a three-year research fellowship. Her clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology was completed at the City of Hope National Cancer Center in Duarte, CA.
Dr. Arrington's specialties include general surgery, liver and pancreas surgery, colorectal surgery, breast cancer treatment, skin cancer management, and gallbladder disease care. With over 70 publications, seven book chapters, and invitations to present her research and clinical expertise at regional, national, and international levels, Dr. Arrington is a leader in her field.
“Dr. Amanda Arrington’s passion for improving access to cancer care, especially in underserved rural areas, and her expertise in general surgery make her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Joe Clifton, Sierra Vista Medical Group Director of Practice Management. “Her dedication to patient care and her commitment to addressing disparities in healthcare access align with our mission of making communities healthier.”
Dr. Arrington, her family, and their two dogs have relocated to Arizona from Texas. In her free time, she enjoys being a mom and supporting her son in his athletic pursuits, especially baseball and soccer.
