CVMC Resident Honored with Prestigious David Susser Award by ACOI

Canyon Vista Medical Center is proud to announce that Dr. Mohamad Omar Diab, a resident in our Internal Medicine Residency program, has been recognized as one of the recipients of the inaugural David Susser Award, presented by the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI). This prestigious award will be presented to Dr. Diab at the ACOI 2024 Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The David Susser Award, newly established in 2024, honors the legacy of Dr. David Susser, a pioneering cardiologist and former head of Internal Medicine at Botsford Hospital in Michigan. Dr. Susser was renowned for his ethical care, compassion, and commitment to excellence in osteopathic Internal Medicine, as well as his leadership within the ACOI. The award celebrates individuals who exemplify the core traits that defined Dr. Susser’s life and career, including integrity, compassion, resilience, academic performance, and dedication to community service.
Dr. Diab, who earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, has been an integral part of CVMC's Internal Medicine Residency program. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Diab has made numerous contributions to research, including a significant study on screening guidelines in outpatient care. His work has been recognized with awards such as first place at the ICHAMS Dublin Conference and the RCSI Research Review Competition.

In addition to his academic and clinical work, Dr. Diab actively participates in local health initiatives in Cochise County, further demonstrating his commitment to community health. He has also held leadership roles with organizations such as the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Running Club and the RCSI Green Initiative Society.
