New Grade for fall 2024 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety
Sierra Vista, AZ (November 15, 2024) – – Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) is proud to announce that it has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization dedicated to patient safety. This achievement recognizes CVMC’s commitment to the highest standards in patient care, demonstrating excellence across more than 30 performance measures that focus on preventing medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
Leapfrog’s Safety Grade uses evidence-based criteria to evaluate general hospitals across the country, assigning grades from “A” to “F” based on a hospital’s ability to protect patients from harm and provide a safe environment. Achieving an “A” grade means CVMC has demonstrated strong systems to minimize risks and safeguard patient health, underscoring the hospital’s dedication to the well-being of its patients, families, and the wider community.
“Our team’s dedication to patient safety and quality care is unwavering, and this ‘A’ grade is a testament to that commitment,” said Cosette Britton, Chief Nursing Officer at Canyon Vista Medical Center. “Every day, our staff works tirelessly to ensure that our patients receive safe, reliable, and compassionate care. We are honored to have our efforts recognized by The Leapfrog Group, and we will continue to strive for excellence for our community.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Canyon Vista Medical Center,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to CVMC, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
